2013 Bookish Resolutions

I got this awesome idea from Pretty Books and decided to do it myself. I do need some guidance on bookish department because I am nutty as a squirrel poo when it comes to books. So here goes:

1. Read one classic
This time for real. I haven't read one so far! I started on Gatsby but got bored. I haven't even read those we were supposed to in school. So in 2013 I am seriously reading one, or at least finishing Gatsby.

2. Don't buy and not read books
This one is hard because I buy 90 % more books than I read. But this year I stocked on those I plan to read in 2013 so maybe I'll manage.

3. Borrow more from library
Our libraries don't have all that many English books, especially not the new ones, but I'll try to borrow more books instead of buying them all and then never reading them.

4. Read even more
I've been going nuts over books since 2010, a huge thanks to Goodreads and blogs, and I try to read more each year, I need to be back on track as fast as I can manage. I am so far behind not reading from around '04 or '05 up to '10 it's gotten really bad. I will try to meet a higher goal this year as well, minimum 60 books.

5. Stick to reading plan
I made a guide for me to follow for reading in 2013 that will make it easier for me to decide what to read. Having a Fall/Winter reading list in 2012 was really helpful so I decided to make one for entire year. Hopefully I can finish half of it.

What are your bookish resolutions for 2013?

  3. Nice resolutions Ula! I always plan to stop buying books, but there are always so much pretty titles and covers I NEED, haha. So, I just go with the flow and buy them whenever I can :p And I also want to read a classic, good idea! I hope you can stick to your plan :D

  4. Classics are tricky because some of them are quite long and slow paced but I hope you find something you enjoy :) I really liked Anne Bronte's Agnes Grey, for example.

Best of luck with your resolutions!

  5. I give up on trying to read classics this year. I'm just not feeling in the mood and I don't want to read books that I don't want to read - especially when they are thick and chunky.
