Goodreads synopsis
Godspeed was once fueled by lies. Now it is ruled by chaos.
It’s been three months since Amy was unplugged. The life she always knew is over. Everywhere she looks, she sees the walls of the spaceship Godspeed.
But there may be hope: Elder has assumed leadership of the ship. He's finally free to act on his vision—no more Phydus, no more lies.
But when Elder learns shocking news about the ship, he and Amy race to discover the truth behind life on Godspeed. They must work together to unlock a mystery that was set in motion hundreds of years earlier. Their success—or failure—will determine the fate of the 2,298 passengers aboard Godspeed. But with each step, the journey becomes more perilous, the ship more chaotic, and the love between them more impossible to fight.
Beth Revis catapulted readers into the far reaches of space with her New York Times bestselling debut, Across the Universe. In A Million Suns, Beth deepens the mystery with action, suspense, romance, and deep philosophical questions. And this time it all builds to one mind-bending conclusion: They have to get off this ship.
Review (might contain SPOILERS!)
The second book in the series started off even better than the first one. The action was instant, the new problems just there at the beginning. I was immediately drowning in the awesomeness of the book after the first few pages.
There were new problems arising with each new chapter, new secrets have been revealed that were even more shocking than the ones from book one. Everything was changing and becoming more amazing with every page flipped. The characters that were previously just occasionally mentioned developed and gained depth and got really interesting, mysterious and a big players in the game.
I felt really bad for all of them, things kept falling apart and it all rested on the shoulders of a 17-year-old. Elder was in a really deep trouble from page one and I just hoped he will be able to fix it all.
Amy's 'task' on the ship was very interesting and I was always looking forward to another clue and another mystery - I loved that! The fact that it turned out to be the biggest secret of all was even more amazing.
There were so many twists in the book I could not stop reading. And not just minor ones, the big slaps in the face that crushed all I believed in while reading the book. So many secrets unveiled, so many people being the opposite of what I thought they were, so many events that happened that I did not expect in the slightest. I have never been this surprised, shocked and on edge while reading a book and I loved every minute of it!
My mind is screaming right now as I cannot put all my emotions into words for you to understand how amazing this book was. It was far better than the first in the series and if things will continue like this, the last book will be the best ever!
I am feeling so many things right now, from happiness to anger and shock, from being glad and feeling relieved to just wanting to scream and trash. It's so frustrating, but in a good way, in an amazing way.
The ending was amazing, full of suspense and it left so many things just hanging... I am just glad I can start on book three as soon as possible first thing tomorrow morning. I have to see how it all ends!
All in all, the book was amazing! Very dynamic, full of action, mystery, a little scary and just so very interesting I could not stop reading it. It's a great read I will gladly reread in the future.
